Dr. Marie Miville gives a talk!

Marie’s talk was a talk of resistance in light of oppressive experiences such as stigma, “isms”, negative stereotypes, social exclusion, being structurally deprived of access to resources, being looked down, low expectations of what you can do or achieve in life, and such. The talk also highlighted recent events, such as the war in Ukraine and other dark moments of recent history.
However despite all that remains to be done, this talk was also about hope and all the wins that have occurred recently. It is this hope of change, the continuous improvements, the belief that every human being deserves dignity, that gives us the strength to resist and to keep on trying.

Here, I Bahar, as a woman, an immigrant from middle east, and most importantly as a human being who strongly believes in humanity and social justice, I cannot help but agree with Dr. Miville as she stated “we can never stop the fight, we must always resist, we must always resist.”
